MEET DARBY MAGUIRE

The 21 year old studying school teacher, who uses ultra running to raise awareness for mental health.

Darbys story didn’t start with his passion for ultra running. Darby was your everyday teenager who enjoyed surfing and hanging out with his mates. He always wanted to do something big, but didn’t know how and it was only when he knew he needed to change his life, that ultra running found it’s way.

Through his teenage years, Darby lost his grandfather to cancer, which took a toll on his mental health. Later within the same year, Darbys uncle took his own life. This impacted Darby and as he grew up he knew he wanted to change the way he lived his own life. Darby sees that everyone struggles and he found purpose and meaning through pushing himself and inspiring others.

Over the years, Darby would try a number of different athletic endeavours but there was something about ultra running that ticked all the boxes. Darby fell in love with discomfort.

Darby is constantly thinking of the next challenge on the horizon and shares his story and skills with schools and businesses.
